From the moment I received the invitation to be part of this years Macy’s Flower Show “Bouquet of the Day” I was very honored and excited. The theme for this years show was ”Towers of Flowers”. I was very inspired by the theme as I had just retuned from a recent trip to Florence, Italy. There I saw amazing towers, spectacular architecture and art, which became key inspiration for my design.
I wanted to take my design back to the late medieval period and renaissance from southern Europe where we can find man-made structures. These towers were built long ago and have weathered by many years of harsh elemental punishment. The wind and rain have worn them down but they are never broken, never defeated. Over time nature has blossomed inside these ruined towers, and new life has grown in the cracks of the old. The structure is thereby transformed from man-made practical edifice into a cohesive, organic environment. Though we as individuals may have endure the occasional and unfortunate hardships of life, we must never despair and like the sunflowers (one of my favorite flower) always continue to grow towards the light.

The construction of the tower consists of a fifteen feet tall welded metal frame of three (3) tiers covered with spandex fabric, treated with primer, sealer, and sprayed with a texture to resemble the stone brick construction found in the late medieval towers of northern Italy. The tower got treated with different color paint to look like it has been weathered by time and enchanted by natural long tendrils of ivy and moss. The total height of the tower from floor to ceiling is nineteen feet.

Each tier has an arrangement of the colors of the spring season such as; yellow, orange, green and touches of white of the early bloomer of the spring season such as, forsythia, tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, roses, orchids, eremerus, lush foliage such as green geranium and long tendrils of jasmine to awaking our senses with the sweet fragrance. To keep adding life and spirit of renewal to the structure we have, butterflies, ladybugs, nesting birds, flying birds and to spreading life hummingbirds.

Though we brave the harsh winter, Spring will come with the spirit of awakening and new life will spring forth from the ruins of old.

She kept same color scheme but added other elements in centerpiece not found in her bouquet and added a pendant crystal in her wedding bouquet.
Look at how different the center piece is but still flows with theme and the details in her wedding
